Arguably the last and final Eco-Challenge event. This regional qualifying race took place in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario Canada in the summer of 2003.The top Canadian and US teams were to qualify for the next Eco-Challenge rumoured to be in South Africa.The next Eco-Challenge never materialized as the producer, Mark Burnett, had other hits like Survivor, The Apprentice and Rock Star to focus on.

In 2002, the town of Golden, British Columbia served as the regional qualifying race for North America. The top two Canadian, and a single US team would qualify to enter Eco-Challenge Fiji. This video was produced, shot and edited by one single person over the 5-day race and was ready to be presented by the closing ceremonies. Chris Owen Halper has gone on to become the leading Adventure Race Photographer.
